March 19, 1977…while France was testing nuclear weapons and Egyptian Prime Minister Anwar Sadat was visiting Jerusalem, the world was holding its collective breath. So was Heath’s mother, who was giving birth at the time.
His love of art and drawing manifested early and Heath became a huge fan of comic books. This resulted in the influence of such works as Spawn, Spiderman, Marvin the Martian, and The Darkness showing heavily in his work. It also resulted in a significantly reduced dating life through much of his teen and early adult years.
In 1995 Heath’s skill as demonstrated in high school earned him a scholarship to Sunbury Shores Art Centre, located in Saint Andrews, New Brunswick. It was here that Heath broadened his artistic skill and his ability to consume alcohol.
A growing comic book dependency and the introduction to airbrushing by his father, Country Morrell, and a friend, Waylon Simpson, in 1996 led Heath to designing and selling T-Shirts. Insanity ensued and Heath began to take on more challenging jobs and murals.
The circle of influence was closed in 2001 when Heath discovered the automobile, or at least the fact that he could paint them.
The explosion of the motorcycle into the mainstream led Heath to export his talent to Sport bikes and Cruisers, where he still derives the majority of his clientele.
In 2003, Heath became one of only 23 licensed artists worldwide as an authorized designer and painter for hockey mask manufacturers Eddy and Itech.
In his spare time, Heath likes to punch strange men dressed in comic hero costumes. |
